Liminal Wellbeing is excited to kick off season 2022 supporting the Gippsland Power Football Club.
As a participant of the AFL’s Elite Pathway competition, Gippsland Power works with a broad range of aspiring young athletes coming together from all corners of the region. The Gippsland Power Football Club has produced some of the AFL’s top players. Including current AFL Captains Scott Pendlebury (Collingwood) and Dyson Heppell (Essendon).
Whilst on-field performance is an important part of the talent program, creating a safe and trusting environment for every player to thrive is paramount. In addition, the club’s wellbeing program led by Wellbeing Coordinator David Hobbs has had an increased focus on player wellbeing off the back of two difficult years for players. When discussing player wellbeing with Head Talent Manager Scott McDougal, he mentioned that a core component to program success is to “make sure that every young player who walks through our door not only becomes a better footballer but more importantly, leaves as a better person”.
The introduction of the Liminal Wellbeing Program aims to align with the AFL’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy where a key focus is on the promotion and development of young athletes’ mental fitness.
Liminal looks forward to supporting the Gippsland Power Talent Program long into the future as they continue to shape great footballers and people.
